Scrum started in the IT industry but Kanban and TPS was indeed developed outside of this industry. Agile shows us that we should always keep our eyes opened and look around. We always need to improve. We always need to understand why and for whom we are doing something. This is applicable for other industry apart from IT. I think there’s more than just one way, and there is no such “the best way” to do it. Sometimes, we have to go out of the forest and see what else is going on. Seeing ourselves from another perspective can support us.
I am actually working with Design and Marketing team, Construction team in addition to IT teams. From my personal experience in marketing industry and lean startup world, Agile is very practical.
The Agile Manifesto, a verbal presentation of the Agile mindset, is not only applicable for Software development and IT, but also Design and Marketing. Here is our version (www.designmarketing-manifesto.org). This also includes the Design Thinking approach.
